April 9 1942

The Battle of Bataan, which the Philippine Commonwealth and the United States fought together against Japan during World War II from January 7 to April 9, 1942, is one of the battles that Filipinos fought. In January 1942, the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy invaded Luzon, as well as several islands in the Philippine Archipelago, after the bombing of the American naval base at Pearl Harbor. Every April 9, we commemorate the "Araw ng Kagitingan" We should be grateful to these heroic Filipinos who battled for our nation, even if they are no longer with us. We applaud all Filipino soldiers for their valor and sacrifice.

"The Battle of Bataan represented the most intense phase of Imperial Japan's invasion of the Philippines during World War II. The capture of the Philippine Islands was crucial to Japan's effort to control the Southwest Pacific, seize the resource-rich Dutch East Indies, and protect its Southeast Asia flank. It was the largest surrender in American and Filipino military history, and was the largest United States surrender since the Civil War's Battle of Harper's Ferry.

Everyday we must keep ourselves always ready because you don’t need a hero, if you can protect yourself and others. April 9 1942 the day that Filipinos fought against Japan and also the “Araw ng Kagitingan” or the day of bravery for the brave souls who fought during the Fall of Bataan.
